Whilst the opportunity to cruise on the fantastic West coast of Scotland is the ‘main course’ for us, it is much more convenient for our lives outside of holidays for us to be based at Largs, and cruise within the Clyde cruising area.
The full extent of the cruising area is around 60nm long, from Campbeltown in the South West, to the heads of Lochs Fyne, Long, Goil or Gair; Largs is conveniently situated approximately half way within this area (though it would still be 50nm to the head of Loch Fyne, and is nearly 40nm to Campbeltown).
Our weekend cruising – often for long weekends – has been within this cruising area over the past two seasons since we arrived at Largs from the South coast.
Here are a few of our favourites and other places worth a comment, so far. Any omissions may be simply as we are yet to visit by sea!
